What’s the difference between organic wine and biodynamic wine?Biodynamic wine

  1. On top of a vineyard being certified organic they also are held to an even higher set of rules - The Demeter Biodynamic Certification Standard.
  2. The vineyard is a self contained unit. Nothing is brought in from other areas and nothing is taken away from the area. Even the area’s own waste is turned into energy bringing every element possible together.
  3. Everything within the area like insects, animals, weeds, soil nutrition, are thought of – giving each vineyard it’s very own game plan. All is used…including light, airflow and the timing of planting are all specifically calculated.
  4. Livestock is handled very carefully – they must remain cage free, holistic vaccinations, no antibiotics, no clipping of wings or cutting pigtails. It’s extremely humane and holistic! All of this has a part in having the healthiest soil possible.
  5. There are 9 specific ingredients that go into field sprays and composts – All done within a timely matter based on a lunar calendar.
  6. Land can not be grown on more than two seasons in a row, therefore the vineyard is not being over worked, a time to rest you might say.

All of this love and care put into making the wine can’t help but take you on a fantastic journey of each vineyard’s region. In this wine drinkers opinion…Biodynamics brings science and nature together to make the perfect wine just for us! So enjoy and  CHEERS…to a greener way !
